Unidad Latina en Acción

Grassroots Collective

Unidad Latina en Acción (ULA) is a grassroots collective of migrants who have survived human rights abuses in Latin America and the United States. Since 2002, ULA has turned New Haven, Connecticut into a model city for immigrant inclusion. New Haven became the first city to issue a government ID card to undocumented immigrants, a move that was later replicated in Los Angeles, New York, and other cities. ULA uses a combination of legal action, direct action, and art and media to challenge the root causes of injustice, build collective power and tell the untold stories of the migrant community.
