End the Debt! Decolonize! Liberate! Movement Unity Scroll

Loisaida Center
Loisaida, NYC

Join us in NYC, Friday, October 20th at 7:00pm for an inaugural event at the Loisaida Center (710 E.9th Street) for this project in which we will hear from Jorge Díaz Ortiz, Founder and Artistic Director of AgitArte, about the grassroots mutual aid, brigades, and collective kitchens that have emerged throughout Puerto Rico to address the immediate needs of the people that are not being met by FEMA and the US Military.

End the Debt! Decolonize! Liberate! Movement Unity Scroll is a participatory cultural response to Hurricane Maria that tells the story of U.S. imperialism through the lens of the current economic and environmental state of Puerto Rico and its diaspora. This project will be developed in collaboration between AgitArte and NYC based artist Rachel Schragis. Participating artists and cultural workers include Jorge Díaz Ortiz, Estefania Rivera, Crystal Clarity, Rachel Schragis, Emily Simons, Osvaldo Budet, and Dey Hernández . Come witness how an art object becomes animated through community and song!
